Vote YES on Measure I to Protect and Improve Carmel Schools!
Across Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel, Carmel Highlands, Carmel Valley, Cachagua, Big Sur, and Pebble Beach, aging schools are beginning to fail in ways that affect students’ daily learning. Now is the time to ensure our schools remain safe, reliable, and worthy of the children they serve.
Many of our coastal schools and facilities are nearly 90 years old. Despite careful maintenance, aging roofs, failing heating and cooling systems, deteriorating water and sewer lines, and outdated electrical infrastructure are increasingly disrupting classrooms and becoming more costly to repair.
Teacher focus should be instruction, not flooded classrooms or unreliable systems. Students deserve safe, comfortable, and dependable schools where every day is dedicated to learning.
The simple truth - the last bond approved by voters to update Carmel Unified Schools was over 20 years ago.
Measure I will help improve campus safety through upgraded access controls, emergency communications, security cameras, and fire alarm systems.

Measure I will:

Improve student and school safety
Replace decaying water pipes, roofs, sewer, electrical and HVAC systems

Improve accessibility for students with disabilities
Replace aging portables and our oldest buildings with updated, permanent classrooms

Weatherproof schools to prevent mold and dry rot
Join local parents, teachers, and community leaders! Vote YES on Measure I.
